A fun and tasty project for you and your kids!
Celebrate St. Valentine with your kids this weekend by making a simple and fun cake with them!
We decided to get some heart shaped silicon cake molds to make it fun for my son, and used the leftover batter to make a small 8x8 round cake for ourselves.
This is an inexpensive recipe, so in the event your kiddos drop or ruin, for lack of a better term, it don't hurt your budget. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 box vanilla cake mix
1 small tub pre-made vanilla icing
1 pint raspberries, rinsed and drained
1 Mega Kiwi, peeled and sliced into heart shapes
heart shaped silicon mold, if desired
1 8x8 or 9x9 spring form pan
Directions:
Make box mix according to instructions and bake. If using a silicon mold be sure to spray with cooking spray for easier removal of heart cakes! While the cake is baking, beat vanilla icing with raspberries until well blended with a hand held mixer and place in fridge until ready to ice the cakes. This ensures a fresh, homemade flavor and it is delicious with Mega Kiwi!
Remove cakes from oven and let cool completely before icing. Once cooled, ice the cakes and place heart shaped Mega Kiwi and fresh raspberries for a complete treat.
